My friend James e-mailed me to give me a heads up about an exhibit in the Flatiron Building. According to the Whitney Museum of American Art's website...
"In celebration of Hopper Drawing, a life-size window installation of Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks (1942) is on view inside the landmark Flatiron prow, one of the original architectural inspirations for this iconic painting."
Nighthawks is iconic and still very, very cool. I made sure to walk by the Flatiron building today and take a pic.
I love it when art is so accessible. You can just walk by and enjoy it. No entrance fee needed. Makes me think of Mexican Muralism and the idea of art for the people, by the people. PBS has a great video on it here.
